The serpent has remained one of the most enduring motifs in jewelry history, often associated with renewal, continuity, and protection. Its popularity grew during the nineteenth century after Prince Albert presented Queen Victoria with a serpent engagement ring, further establishing the motif within romantic jewelry traditions. An Art Deco serpent ring in 18K yellow gold, the head set with an old-cut diamond, its body wrapped in a balanced coil around the finger. It rests close to the hand with a smooth, compact, sculptural structure, the coil moving in one continuous line from every angle. The tiny engraved scales read with quiet precision, reinforcing the craftsmanship of the piece. The old-cut diamond presents bright against the polished gold surface, catching light in small flashes as the ring moves. The original hallmark had worn with time, though the ring has since received a fresh French owl assay mark confirming 18K gold purity. Found in France.
